It's been a long winter in Colorado Springs. Finally, we are seeing signs of spring. Many of my fruit trees are beginning to bloom, grass is growing, leaves are emerging, and...the bike got a bath and a polish today. One more week and off on our spring ride through CO to NM, AZ, NV, UT. We have reservations for three of eight nights and the other nights we will "wing it"...

I'll be adding to the blog from time to time on our trip, with some photos if I can figure out how to attach a photo to a blog.

To get ready for the trip, I purchased a new front tire, a Dunlop Elite III. The last one lasted over 20k miles. Not bad for a heavy TC. I'm getting 15 - 17k on the rear and I just changed it 4k miles ago. The belt is in good shape, but I'll bring a spare just in case... I lubed the clutch cable and discovered a couple of strands that broke. I should have done this sooner... I ordered a new Bartlett cable from Phat Performance for $50. But, it takes them a while to get it in so I ordered a "Sav-Ur-Ride" emergency cable just in case. I guess I'll head out with the old cable the the emergency kit. The original has over 95k miles on it, so it has served me well...

Also, a nice throttle body and filter cleaning and I think I'm ready. Of course washing and polishing the bike to get it ready for road grit is a prerequisite.
