NM/AZ/NV/UT/CO Ride - Second day (16-May-2010)

Day 2: We started our day in Chama with breakfast. I had a peach turnover. It wasn't technically a pie, but it was homemade and was one of the best of the trip. We are heading for Aztec, NM but first a stop by the road on the way to the Navajo Dam (at Navajo Lake)... Twisty roads are what we live for. Well, besides homemade pie...

In Aztec, NM we find the Aztec Ruins National Monument. A splendid exhibit of early American architecture. The rooms were very precise and cool in the springtime heat.

We have lunch in Aztec, where the wait person promised us that we could have homemade pie. Well, it wasn't homemade, and she admitted (finally) that the baker was on vacation. That was the worst pie of the trip...

From Aztec, we head out across the desert through the Bisti Wilderness area just NW of Chaco Culture National Historic Park. We thought about going to the park, but we had seen the Aztec ruins and Chaco is more ruins, just bigger. And, the road to Chaco is gravel which would slow us down.

We stayed in Grants, NM for the night.
