I find myself trying to do more riding as the summer winds down. I feel like I didn't get much riding in this year. Quick math shows I put on only about 4000 miles this year, about half as much as usual. I don;t have any good reason as to why except that our Spring here in the northeast was much wetter and the rains lasted into late June. I also got the bike on the road much later than usual. Normally I'm riding by late March. This year, due to a slow chromer (name withheld) I didn't get the bike on the road until the last week in May.
The bike is looking and running excellent since my rear bearing incident (see previous blog post). I think Lloyd & I have found the perfect combination of motor mods & pipe to make the bike sing (110ftlbs, 100hp). I'm also getting great fuel economy (47mpg hwy, 40mpg city) so that makes me want to ride it more. I've removed the windshield since Im spending more time around town. This gives my ride a more exhilarating feel. If I go on any trip though, I'll install the windshield.
While in Spirit Lake, IA, I won 1st place in the bike show for the Stock division. I got many compliments on the bike, including one from Mark Blackwell, Victory VP. Thanks to all who enjoyed the look. I continue to love this bike.
