First off, Thanks again to Mike Dapper
for making a point to talk about the Victory Riders Network
as well as Vision-Rders.com
on his VRA blog
. I hope it attracts many new riders and that they enjoy what they find here. I hope to see him at the AVR next week.
Speaking of the American Victory Rally (AVR)
, I hope that many of you make a point of attending at least one of these Rallys (especially this one - the 10th Anniv. of Victory). Victory, and the towns of Spirit lake and Arnold's Park really provide great hospitality to all visiting riders. The Victory plant hosts tours on Friday and Saturday with Friday being the preferred day because the assembly line is in operation. There you can actually ask the workers questions about the process as well as get great insight on how the bike is made and the quality checks in place. The Victory employees are just as excited to see you as you are to see them.
As with past years, the Victory Truck
will be there to furnish bikes for demo rides. This year boasts the largest number of aftermarket vendors so far—all of which sell accessories specifically for Victorys. Friday and Saturday nights feature free live music on a large outdoor stage and the public is invited. This year's headliner is Molly Hatchet.
How will I get there? Well, living just south of Boston, Iowa is a pretty long ride—a ride I have enjoyed doing in the past, but I have limited time off from work so I'm going to ride only part way. I'll then be hooking up with Lloyd Greer
) and we'll be driving his dyno out to Spirit Lake. My bike will be just a passenger in his trailer. Driving straight, we can make it in about 20hrs, plenty of time to allow me to take the Power Tour.
Anyway, I hope to add daily installments, including photos, to this blog while at the AVR. So stay tuned!
