2010 Cross Country Great Long Distance Outback Tourer

On 4th July 2012 I took my 2010 Cross Country for a 3200km ride travelling from North Brisbane Qld Australia to Winton via Cunnamulla and then returning via Emerald, Roma,Yarraman areas.

First stage was about 1735km and took just under 20 hours all up.

I hit a total of 4 Eastern Greys Kangaroo's approx. weight around 50 - 60kg each.

1st and 2nd 'roos I hit head on at about 100-110kph both times and no damage to bike. This was at 930pm and then again around 935pm.

I hit a 3rd 'roo departing Longreach just before 10pm at about 80kph on the left side - minor damage to left pillion footboard.

Then hit 4th 'roo at about 90 - 100kph on right fork side. Bike was lifted up and part of roo went through crash bar. Damage was right fork seal - minor oil loss for rest of journey. I travelled the remaining 110km at about 60 -70kph into Winton, getting there at 1130pm on 4th July 2012.

Cross Country was comfortable and handled very well with no problems overtaking Road Trains in 6th gear without changing down.

I am now in the process of putting a towbar on and buying a camper trailer. I am also considering in getting some LED Driving lights as I intend to do more long distance riding and this will mean riding at night.

I am keeping this bike as it is the best I have ever owned.

I am looking at buying a second Victory possibly a Boardwalk if it comes to Aus. or I'll wait for a Polaris Indian.

Thanks Mate, just downloaded some photo's on My Profile. I am having trouble trying to download my route recorded by Google Earth. I have saved it in "Word" and also made a "PDF" file but unable to download. When I figger out how to do it I'll download it as well. No photo's of the 'roo's as it was night and I didn''t stop to see if they are okay, otherwise I'd have to try and kill them without a rifle.
