If I leave my Vision sitting without a trickle charge for any length of time (say, over a couple of weeks), she'll start, but I won't have any gauges. If I let her idle for 15-20 minutes, everything lights right up

I have experienced problems with the electrical system because of water. Make sure all connections are covered in dielectric grease and turn the connectors towards the rear of the bike to prevent water from getting in them. While on a 6000 mile trip I took the bike into an Arleen Ness dealer and they had to take the computer module out to dry it out. Try going over the electrical system with a hair dryer.
