did anyone turn up i waited at the Mount Mee lookout until 1pm no one showed?
We had delays with such a large group. 40 bikes estimated.
It was a great turn out and great day for all.
It was after 2:15pm when we got to Samford Tavern. Drinks and Food was good.
Look forward to the next one.
Had a Fantastic day, good company, great roads, Superb hospitality shown by the Brisbane Victory Showroom crew, and thanks Ron for getting Rob to top off my tank after my trip up from the Southern Gold Coast, also escorting me back to the South East freeway afterwards, being from down the Goldy I'm a bit lost around Brissy.
That's the first time Ive really had the pleasure of riding those roads up thru the mountains north of Brisbane, you blokes and ladies are fortunate to have such great riding close at hand, I have magic roads only 5 mins down the road from my place, but one becomes very familiar with them over the years.
I look forward to the next Brisbane Shop Run, and any other Victory rides local.
On another note I took part in the American Motorcycle Riders Target Run just south of the border last Sunday and came away with a nice little trophy and $100 cash!...for Worst Shot (with the plastic dart gun on the plastic dart board)
As an alternative to the usual Poker Run it was a refreshing change.
I was the only Victory amongst a sea of Harley Davidsons, a V-star or two, a Triumph, and a couple of Hyabusas.
One of the friendly members was chatting at the well organised lunch stop, extolling the virtues of their club, I mentioned I'd sold my old XS650 Ratbike as I was getting police harrasment on poker runs, the last being a defect and fine for oil leaks on a Brisbane club poker run, also my AS1698 helmet not being current standard.
He replied that Harleys leak oil too...thats when I replied "yeah I know, I initially went looking at Harleys to slow down a bit as my other ride was an aging rocketship Kwaka GPZ900r, a fantastic bike in its own right...
But I ended up buying a VICTORY!..........that's where his face changed... he became a little unsettled as he told me he didn't think Victory's could join his club....Why?...well because they arent American bikes...WHAT! I said..of course theyre American!
No theyre not he was led to believe by other Harley riders that they are actually made in Canada (well thats better than the china that was suggested to me at Toowoomba Swap Meet!!!)
But hey last time I got my atlas out IOWA was still a State of the United States of America.
I suggested they change the club name to Harley Davidson , and that I wouldn't want to join it anyway.
added I'd put my Victory up against and 'uncammed' Harley.
Felt a bit 'one out' on the rest of the ride, but then again I've always been a tad different than the rest, one teacher on my school report commenting that I "march to the beat of a different drum".
Happily so too.
I wrote a little poem to vent my feelings later on in retrospection, here it is, if you pass it on Id appreciate the credit.
We have Victory in our Vision.
The rest are stuck behind the 8-Ball,
Not really such a Hardball.
Were winning Jackpots down in Vegas,
and sipping Highballs on the Boardwalk.
Some got their sights set on a Gunner,
Putting the Hammer down Cross Country.
Are we standing at the Crossroads?.....or going on a Tour?
for extra grunt Lloydz could be Ness-esary
You be the Judge!
Bet Victory comes out Kingpin.
Oh yeah, on the run back over Burringbar range and up the long straights thru the canefields, no one passed me that I didn't let past, had a bit of a play with a couple of V-rods, but hey I know the roads around here pretty good.
looking forward to the next Victory Ride.
