Ride to the Canyon

Follow along as four friends, Jeff M., Pete, Tom, and Jeff C. chronicle their expedition from Massachusetts and Connecticut to AZ to peer into the Grand Canyon.  Like a reality tv program, we have much to accomplish in a short amount of time.

Just arrived safely at home 9 days, 23 hours, 21 minutes, and 5675 miles after I left. Lots of riding, sun, sweat, sunscreen and especially laughs. Thanks to Woody, Bobby and Dudley.

Hi Lucy, I'm home.

What a great time with bunch nutty friends. Glad they kept everyone up to date on our trip. just shy of 5500 miles for me. I will post a pic of my odo later. Too tired now. A/C and my waterbed are calling.

PS Linda thank you for putting up with us.

The ride home is always more grueling than the trip out. This trip is no exception. We put in a long day of riding yesterday and have high miles planned for today. We are aiming for Wilkes-Barre but the sun/heat/humidity ismaking it tough. To add to the challenge we are all sporting stiff or sore muscles and some didn't sleep much. Thanks to Linda for her hospitality and the cold beer. The pizza was awesome!!

Well left sunny Moab viva rt.128 I could ride this road all day long as it twisting and turning it's way along the banks of the Colorado river but that was short lived as we turned on to this god forsaken stretch of road called I80 long flat and straight with nothing on it. Speedo was pinned at 80 mph for hours with no change in the landscape you know something seriously wrong when you get excited about seeing a tree. So far the totals are two tanks of fuel and three trees, I would rather roll around in broken glass then run that awful stretch of road again! Looking to try and make it to Chicago today and stop in and visit friends heck it's only 700 plus miles and I've already seen two trees! Later...

Narrowly escaped heavy rain and a tornado warning in northeast CO. Near the NE border at dusk and hope to get some miles on I80 before we stop. It's been a fun week and now we face the monotony of the plains states.
