yesterday i rode 150 milesthe bike ran fine, last night i rode it 10 miles to my dads house and every time i let off the throttle the belt drive or something related made a loud screeching noise ,then went away when i got back on the gas. but when i came home 3hrs. later there was no noise. any ideas?
thanks Ron
How many miles on the bike? Could be wheel bearings or you front drive sprocket. Is the belt too loose or too tight? Check that the bely guard is not touching the belt. Have you done anything to the bike lately? Check the condition of the belt. All have for now.
hi frank
the bike has 15k on it,the belt seems tight and doesnt look worn or frayed.i rode it yesterday and no noise. i think ill change the rear wheel bearings before laconia
still puzzled about this

Check the belt guard on the back side isn't rubbing the belt. This happened to my '99 and all it took was a pull and it went quiet. Other people have had the belt rubbing problem.
I thought my belt was rubbing on my '09 Vision. The brakes started to squeak at stopping with only 4000 miles on them. I installed EBC pads and it stopped the stop squeak and the noise that I thought was the belt. Now all I hear are the pads rubbing the calipers. I read if I put a couple extra slices in the pads that would fix it. I just don't have the heart to cut $150 worth of new pads. :( EBC pads are the cats meow.
see my post from october, have the exact same thing, seems to happen more when its cold i have figured out.
one thing i have done and it has helped a bit.... i have cleaned the belt, topside, not cog side, cant say why it helped...
hi guys
just to update things the bike got new wheel bearings and tires at 16000 miles it now has 24000 miles on it and no more squeals
thanks all

I have the same problem. Always when it is cold and usually goes away after a while. Driving me nuts. I also have a clutch whine that is when cold and slowing to a stop - almost sounds like a turbofan type sound. It stops as soon as you pull the clutch.
